I was born in Hot Springs, South Dakota. Grew up in North Rapid City.

EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

I delivered newspapers for the RC Journal in the sixties, 3 years working for Piggly Wiggly in Rapid City, worked as a senior technician for Control Data Corporation between 1972 and 1984, worked for Cummings Real Estate Appraisal from 1985 to 1990, started Rossknecht Appraisal Services in 1990 to present, served as president of Blue Wing Recreation Corporation from 1990 to present, Pennington County Commissioner from 2018 to present.  

EDUCATION

Saint John’s Evangelist School 1-8; North Junior High 9th; Central High School 10 and 11 ½; Stevens High School 11 ½ – 12th; National Electronics Institute in Denver, numerous water, and appraisal educational offerings over the years to maintain certification status.

FAMILY

My father Ralph ran Red Owl Stores in Wyoming and South Dakota and in 1963 opened the East Side Family Thrift Center until retiring in 1986. Mother Margaret worked as a nurse in Rapid City for 30 plus years starting at Saint John’s Hospital and retiring 30 plus years later at Rapid City Regional Health.  Son Trevor manages the Memphis, Tennessee KOA for the group that operates Rushmore KOA locally. Trevor graduated Hill City High School in 2008 with honors.

VOLUNTEER SERVICE

Hill City Lions Club, Tin City Masonic Lodge #112, Boy Scout Troop 44, Hill City Boys/Girls Club past president.
